Garlic Bulbs - Kingsland Wight

A regal garlic and the most versatile hard necks!

Originating from near Toulouse, southwest France the garlic ‘Kingsland Wight’ is one of the most versatile of hard necks. We called this royal garlic after Kingsland, the most fertile strip of land on the farm, whose rent was due to the King. These garlic bulbs can be planted autumn or early spring. Producing a beautiful white bulb with pink cloves, similar to Rose de Lautrec, held by French gourmands to be France's finest garlic. Garlic is a great addition to beds and borders or raised beds. The Kingsland Wight will produce 10-12 cloves per bulb.

This hard neck variety has bags full of flavour making it a must-have addition to any home vegetable garden or on the allotment.

Growing garlic from bulb

Allow 10cm (4") between cloves and space rows 15–20cm (6–8") apart. Grow garlic in a warm spot, in fertile, well-drained soil that doesn’t get too wet in winter.

Growing Information

Garlic's influence on flavour in the kitchen is very different to onions or shallots : fresh garlic's taste and aroma goes so well with other herbs and spices. As well as the traditional 'softneck' garlic varieties, we also have some superb 'hardneck' types (these are very hardy - ideal for northern areas - and are widely regarded as the finest tasting of all garlics!). Allow 10cm (4") between cloves and space rows 15–20cm (6–8") apart.
