Various Pack Sizes
Plum 'Victoria' is well-known and well-loved across the nation, becoming one of the most popular plum tree varieties there are! This reliable British bred garden plum produces heavy crops of egg-shaped, medium-sized fruits that are ideal for eating fresh from the tree or infused and chopped into desserts. Fruits can be harvested in late August, and go great in pies or boiled down into jams!
Plum 'Victoria' is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner. It makes a perfect fruit tree for kitchen and wildlife gardens, and looks great while you wait for your fruits! Position this hardy tree in full sun for the best outcome. Estimated time for cropping once planted: 2 years and estimated time for best yields: 4 years. Mature height and spread: up to 450cm x 450cm.
When caring for your dwarf plum tree - Victoria you’ll need to prune it in some way. What makes our patio range special is that they are quite happy in a pot for their lives, and naturally have an eventual height that does not exceed 2m, but they are just as happy and productive at 75cm. That is down to rootstock and the clonal selection.
The plum is a very easy fruit to grow in the garden and is capable of yielding huge crops. Plums can be grown as a bush tree yet most modern crops are produced by cultivation in the central leader style. Once the main framework of the tree is established little extra pruning is required beyond removal of damaged or badly placed wood. Pruning is best done in early summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf infection, preferably painting pruning cuts with a sealing compound. In the bottom place a 23cm (9") of tightly packed broken bricks or rubble. Refill with soil adding well rotted manure or garden compost and a little bonemeal. In a pit plant 23cm (9") away from the base of the wall. In both pots and a pit they should be planted firmly.
