Philodendron Imperial Red

1 x 17cm

  • Grand arching foliage
  • Air-purifying qualities
  • Enjoys a shaded spot

A handsome house plant that has a striking profile! Its large, leathery leaves have a glossy sheen that reflects the light and catches your eye. The beautiful foliage emerges dark red and gradually deepens to mahogany shades, then a dark bronze green. Philodendron 'Imperial Red' will be happy in a lightly shaded spot, away from the scorch of hot, direct sun. It has toxin-busting, air purifying abilities which is why this splendid foliage plant is ideal for a warm, lightly shaded position in your home or office space. Height and spread: 120cm (48"). Philodendron is an adaptable plant which will grow happily in average room temperatures of 18C (65F) - 24C (75F).

Do not keep in a place where temperatures can fall below 12C (55F). A bright to lightly shaded position, well away from direct sunlight is its perfect home. Avoid positioning this plant close to cold draughts and radiators. Water Philodendrons freely to maintain evenly moist soil. Feed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Philodendron appreciates a humid atmosphere so if you can stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant. Misting the foliage with a fine spray will also improve humidity.
