Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata', commonly known as Spotty Oleaster, is a stunning evergreen shrub that will add a unique touch of colour and texture to any landscape. This cultivar is particularly admired for its bold, variegated foliage, with striking yellow spots or splashes on its green leaves. These spots create a speckled, almost marbled effect, making it stand out from other evergreen shrubs. The contrast between the green leaves and yellow spots gives the plant a cheerful, vibrant look year-round.

Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata' is perfect for use as a hedge, privacy screen, or specimen plant in your garden. Its dense growth habit and tough, leathery leaves make it ideal for creating natural barriers or for use in low-maintenance landscaping. This shrub is also great for container planting or as a backdrop for smaller plants.

What makes 'Maculata' truly remarkable is its hardiness and ease of care. It thrives in a range of conditions, from full sun to partial shade, and is drought-tolerant once established. It also tolerates a wide variety of soil types, from clay to sandy soil, and is resistant to common pests and diseases, making it an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a low-maintenance plant.

In addition to its beautiful foliage, Elaeagnus pungens 'Maculata' produces fragrant, small flowers in late fall or winter, filling the air with a pleasant scent. These flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies and provide a welcome burst of fragrance during the colder months. Growth rate: medium 20-40cm per year. Maximum height and spread: 4m (6.5ft). The striking gold foliage of Elaeagnus pungens ‘Maculata’ makes it a popular evergreen shrub for brightening shady corners. Grow Elaeagnus shrubs in any type of soil, as long as it is well-drained. Although plants can be a little discoloured on chalky soils. Elaeagnus can tolerate an exposed, coastal position, or very dry soil, and is very hardy.

Live Plants

Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.

Non Standard Deliveries

Unfortunately like many companies in our industry we are currently only able to supply orders to UK based customers, excluding those in Northern Ireland. We are committed to finding a way that we can resume or normal services again as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvience caused.

Prices include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to contact you and advise an additional charge where necessary and are happy to quote for carriage of specific products to more remote areas. Some items may not be available to all areas.

We reserve the right to revise any carriage charges in the event of carrier price increase or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always advise of the carriage charge before payment is taken.
