CULTURE: Sow seed in late July in the North and the Midlands and early August in the South, in 1.8cm (¾") deep drills (shallow grooves) 15cm (6") apart on prepared seed beds outdoors. Set the resultant plants in rows 38cm (15") apart, with 30cm (12") between plants, during September and October.
