	Seed Potatoes

	Now you can harvest tasty new potatoes from late October through until Christmas! Late season (second crop) potatoes are grown from seed potato tubers which have been stored under precise temperature controlled conditions to keep them dormant until they are sent to you in July and early August. Plant them straight away (no need to 'chit' first) and they will grow away rapidly in the warm summer soil. Your first potatoes can be dug from late October, or when the top growth is fully developed - but do be sure to leave some in the ground undisturbed until Christmas, when you can enjoy that incomparable 'just harvested' new potato taste on Christmas Day! Under most conditions the tubers will be quite safe in the soil although if severe frost is forecast they can be protected by covering with fleece or even old carpet. As well as growing in the garden or plot, our giant potato buckets and patio planters are also ideal for this crop, particularly in colder areas, as they can be moved under shelter or into a cold greenhouse if weather deteriorates later in the year. All potatoes supplied are certified virus free. Each 2kg pack should, on average and depending on variety, contain 20-30 tubers.
