Grow your Own Vegetables - on the Patio!
If you don’t have a large garden that’s no reason not to grow vegetables... read more

Every year we’re delighted to receive hundreds of snapshots that proud Dobies gardeners
have taken of their gardening successes. You’ve put the effort in and it’s nice to share the
results! Handsome hanging baskets and patio containers, beautiful bedding displays,
miraculous make-overs, and prize-winning vegetables. We always take great pleasure in
seeing the joy that growing our seeds and plants has given, whether it be in transforming
a dull patio or growing vegetables that have won you first prize at the local show.

But it seems rather a waste if we’re the only ones to share in your triumphs; so from now on
we’ll be regularly posting a selection of your photos up on our website, so that other people
can share in them too! Simply email them as an attachment (maximum file size approx 10Mb) to me,
Sue Cluer, website co-ordinator, remembering to include your name and address. Alternatively, post them to me at: Samuel Dobie & Son, Long Road, Paignton, Devon, TQ4 7SX (unfortunately we cannot return your photos).

Obviously we’re not going to be able to show all the pictures that come in, but we’ll take pleasure in
seeing them even if they don’t make it onto the website. And who knows, maybe yours will!
Additionally, each month, we’ll pick a favourite shot and the sender will receive a £25 Dobies Gift
Voucher.

Congratulations to this month's gift voucher winner - Mr P Bentley of Chorley, Lancashire

Paul has been kept busy during the summer months creating a riot of colour, both in the back garden and the front. The combination of borders and containers is truly stunning!

Runner Up: Evan Monk of Undy, Newport - 5 year old Evan grew these healthy plants from seed this year, showing that you're never to young to start gardening. And we're told he had a lovely harvest of sweet corn and tomatoes!

Runner Up: Hazel Bowley - Hazel shows what a bit of lateral thinking can achieve. Here an old golf bag makes an imaginative planter for a few summer bedding plants!
