Can be cooked or used raw A good fennel for garden use. The bases of the leaves swell up to form a delicious 'bulb' of celery-like taste with a hint of aniseed. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. This variety trialled, tested and recommended by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany. Culture: Sow in drills 45cm (1½') apart from late May to July directly into soil, harvest mid August-October. Thin out to 20cm (8") apart and earth up to blanch the 'bulbs'. Row 9m (30'). Keep well watered.
