Tasty autumn/winter/spring vegetable. For maincrops, sow on a finely raked 'seed bed' outdoors early March-late April. For early crops, sow in frames or under cloches during February.
Plant firmly on light soils or earth up round the stems in autumn as the plants may topple (technically known as 'lodging') over with autumn winds. Pick sprouts at walnut size by pressing downwards to remove.
