Excellent flavour! An easier way to grow good beetroot! This monogerm variety produces one strong seedling per cluster so much less thinning out is needed. The uniform, round, smooth skinned roots are of excellent flavour and deep crimson internal colour. Moneta may be sown earlier than many varieties without the risk of bolting. Globe variety. Maturing 12-16 weeks from sowing. Culture: Choose a sunny spot and sow seed thinly outdoors in drills (straight shallow grooves) made 30cm (12") apart and then covererd with about 1.25cm (½") of soil. For general use, sow at regular intervals late April-early June. Thin out seedlings to 5-7.5cm (2-3") apart. Harvest June-December. Row 4m (13').

Boiling can actually increase the ntrient value, pickling reduces it. Use tops of young roots as for spinach.
