Dobies have been supplying flower and vegetable seeds direct to gardeners since 1880, starting in the Chester area, and for over fifty years now, to customers throughout the UK. An extensive range of products is featured in our main annual catalogue, which is sent free on request. In addition to seeds, we offer the largest range of young annual plants available by post, plus bulbs, fruit and garden equipment.
Friends with, but not to be confused with Dobbies Garden Centre.
Which? Best Buy Seed Supplier
Dobies are proud to have been awarded the coveted "Best Buy" Seed Supplier by Which? Gardening with "an impressive 91% of seed producing healthy seedlings. Dobies catalogue and user friendly website include helpful plant raising advice and photos of most varieties."
We regularly top 'Best Buy' price comparisons. In BBC Gardeners' World magazine November 2010 issue, we top all three Seed Price Comparisons. Ross Bayton writes "Dobies of Devon consistently showed best value for money in our comparisons." With seeds from 75p per packet, you can't go wrong with Dobies!
Our Trading Philosophy
Our business has been built on supplying direct to customers, and our products are not sold in the shops. This enables us to offer many unusual and hard-to-find items, at very competitive prices.
Our seed and plant stocks are subject to strict quality checks to ensure they give excellent results in your garden. Our licensed laboratory checks seed germination and purity, and plants are regularly test grown to maturity on our own trial site. Our young plants are quality checked in the nursery, prior to packaging and delivery to your door by first class post, at just the right time. Full details of our guarantee can be found here.
Genetically Modified Varieties
We do not list any varieties that have been produced as a result of genetic modification.
Working for You
Developing our range of mail order seeds and plants is very much a team effort at Dobies, involving selections from our field trials, laboratory testing of seeds for purity and quality checking our plant production - plus photography to enable us to present our products to you in the future! Please feel free to contact us and you can read our monthly Helping Hand newsletter.
