Cabbage Seeds - Kalibos

Brassica oleracea

“Originating from Eastern Europe, this pointed, red cabbage is a beauty. Each head will be ready to cut in the summer/early autumn. There are few outer leaves on ‘Kalibos’ and its high sugar content make this red variety a fantastic choice for eating raw in salads. Try pickling this variety for a sweeter pickle, or cook with red wine, apple and raisins for a luxurious alternative to boiled cabbage.”

Sow March-May in 2cm (¾") deep drills (shallow grooves) 15cm (6") apart on prepared seedbeds outdoors in a warm, moist, weed-free soil. Alternatively, sow into trays of moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with soil. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 9cm (3½") pots and harden off for 2-3 weeks before planting out. Plant out June-July, 45cm (18") apart each way. Best grown for late summer and autumn use.

Ideal for beds and borders. Prefers full sun or partial shade.
