Sow the seed thinly in pots or trays on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at around 15–20C (60–65F) in good quality, moist compost, 6mm (¼") deep. Germination 7–14 days. Transplant seedlings to their own pots or 5cm (2") spacings in trays and grow on, harden off, planting out after all chance of frost has passed. Alternatively, can be sown directly into finely raked, moist, warm, weed-free soil where they are to flower in late March–May.
