Rudbeckia Seeds - Green Wizard

Coneflower

The magical thing about this wizard, is that the flowers have no petals!!! The sepals (the bit that normally protects the flower when it’s a bud) are larger than normal, and look like green petals when it opens. Producing large black cones with a golden crown, they look amazing in the garden and in a vase. They also work well as dried flowers, as they have no petals to dry. Truly magical. Height 150-200cm (4’11”-6’6”).

Using a good quality, moist seed compost, sow your seeds in a propagator, cover with 3mm (1/8") compost and place on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approximately 15-20ºC (60-68ºF) to germinate (usually 7-21 days). Transfer seedlings when large enough to handle into seed trays spacing them 5cm (2") apart, and grow on. Gradually acclimatise to outside conditions before planting out 30 x 30cm (12 x 12") apart in a sunny position.

Ideal for beds and borders, patio pots and containers, greenhouse. Suitable for cut and dried flowers. Attractive to butterflies and bees. Prefers full sun or partial shade.
