Asparagus Crowns Guelph Millenium
The most vigorous variety
Originally from Canada, this asparagus is perhaps the most vigorous we have seen and is perfectly adapted for British gardens as it thrives in both hot or cool damp conditions. Millenium gives a heavy crop of fat tasty green spears which crop at their peak 1-2 weeks later than our other varieties making it an ideal partner to extend the asparagus season. Alternatively grow it on its own for a bumper crop from mid May. This delicious luxury vegetable can command high prices in the shops but it is surprisingly easy to grow in the asparagus garden. A relatively small investment can give pounds of asparagus from the same space as a couple of rows of potatoes. Note: Asparagus Crowns will be despatched from early April which is the correct time for planting. Last order date 3rd March 2010.

Culture: Once established a new bed can crop heavily for 10 years or more. Harvest when spears are approximately 20cm (8") in length. Once the plants are established the spears can be harvested until mid June; after this allow them to develop into attractive green fronds of foliage.
