Excellent onion with a long growing season The first F1 hybrid red onion from sets and an excellent variety! One of the latest to mature, lifting in early September. The long growing season results in a heavy crop of uniform, semi-globe, crimson bulbs and the flavour of the pink tinged flesh is spicy and robust. Hyred stores well into the spring if kept cool and dry.
Normal onion sets can be prone to run to seed in adverse weather conditions. Heat-treated types are specially prepared to reduce this tendancy and produce optimum growing performance.
The quality bulbs produced are ideal for fresh use or show growing. NB: Heat treated sets exhibit darker skins and are low in moisture. Initial growth may be restricted but soon speeds up provided they are planted into warm, moist soil. (Note: Treatment is not completed until March, therefore, heat treated sets will be despatched in early April separately to your main order.) Culture: Full growing instructions included. 200g of sets (approximately 50 sets) will plant a row of approximately 5m (16').
