Grafted Tomato Plants - Gardener's Delight

'Bite-sized' fruits packed with rich, sweet flavour. Heavy crops borne on long trusses. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Which? Best Buy since 1984. (Cordon variety - one stem grown by pinching off side-shoots as they appear, needs staking and tying in.) Please note: There is a possibility that your plant will include a grafting clip, if it does, this is an integral part of the grafting process and that it should be left in place. As the plant grows it will naturally shrug off the clip. Supplied in a 10cm pot.

Why are they called Turbo? We have taken a selection of our tastiest tomatoes available and grafted them onto an extremely vigorous-growing root stock. Tomatoes - We have selected leading commercial varieties and some traditional favourites - chosen for their fruit quality and taste - and grafted them, under carefully controlled conditions. Note that grafted tomatoes are not suitable for grow bags. An improved technique for tomato grafting - Since 2012, all our grafted tomato varieties now use this new technique which leads to even earlier and bigger crops, with fruiting beginning lower on the stems, producing at least one extra fruit truss per plant during the season!

More vigorous and producing larger plants. Have greater resistance to pests and diseases. Have less susceptibility to nutritional disorders. Perform well with less heat in your greenhouse. Yield top quality fruit over a longer period compared to normal plants.
Our trials have shown that grafted plants are incredibly healthy and give rise to larger, strong-growing plants giving bumper yields. They'll perfrorm well outside but are particularly recommended for greenhouse growing, where they will fulfill their potential and allow you to get plants off to an early start in spring without paying a fortune on heating your greenhouse.

On Arrival - Remove the plants from the box as soon as they arrive and check that the compost is adequately moist, watering if necessary with tepid water. Leave them on a shaded windowsill or in a greenhouse for a few hours to settle before further handling, ensuring a frost-free non-draughty situation. Potting On - These plants should be potted on as soon as possible, but they will keep quite well for 2–3 days if necessary, provided they are kept in a warm light place and are not allowed to dry out. Use 10cm (4") pots and a good quality moist proprietary compost and set the plants so that the top of the root ball is level with the compost surface. After potting, give a thorough watering, but thereafter take care to avoid overwet conditions, particularly as the young plants become re-established. Grow on in a light, humid position, and maintain an initial temperature of 16–18˚C (60–65˚F).

1 plant, 1 stem, 1 variety and at least 6-8 trusses.
