Its dense, intensely aromatic, silver-grey foliage is covered, in summer, with spikes of fragrant, deep violet flowers. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Height 60cm. Middle of border variety.
Adrian Bloom says . . . With garden plants, as with so much else, new is not always better, and that certainly applies to Lavenders, where new varieties seem to be introduced every year. Hidcote, named after the famous garden in Gloucestershire, has been around for fifty years or more, and is tough and hardy, with a dense compact habit, grey-green leaves and masses of erect spikes profusely covered with deep violet-blue flowers, filling the air with fragrance and always attractive to bees.
