Amaranthus Seeds - Crimson Fountains Mixed

Love-Lies-Bleeding

“Much loved by gardeners and flower arrangers alike. This plant produces beautiful tassels which flow over the dark green foliage. A great choice for cut flowers, it adds that ‘flow’ to arrangements with its fluidity and colour. The avid gardener can also let a few tassels go to seed; they produce an edible grain similar to quinoa, a staple of the Aztecs’ diet. The leaves are also edible and still used in Indian cuisine today.” Height 75cm (2½’).

Rob's Spillers - Spillers can either fall away from the main arrangement down the sides, or they can spike up and out of the arrangement. They help create depth to the other flowers and help it feel more natural.

Sow the seed thinly into moist, warm, weed-free soil and rake in from late March-May where the plants are to flower, choosing an open sunny position. Thin the seedlings as they develop to a final spacing of 30cm (12") apart and replant the surplus if required before they start to wilt.

Ideal for beds and borders. Suitable for cut flowers. Prefers full sun.
