Aster Seeds - Madelaine

Callistephus chinensis

“This tall aster makes a superb late summer bedding plant, as well as a fantastic cut flower, blooming from July-Sept. The large single blooms come in pinks/white/purple and violet, meaning they all blend together brilliantly. In fact, its almost a ready grown arrangement! With their bushy foliage, ‘Madelaine’ make a great economical filler both in the garden and the vase.” Height 70cm (40”).

Rob's Fillers - Fillers are the ‘can can’ girls of the arrangement, they look impressive but they are there to support the Thriller.  They also help ‘fill out’ the arrangement and make it look bigger and bolder.

Can be sown in April/May, 1.5cm (½") deep in their final flowering positions. Keep moist and thin to around 40cm (15") between plants. Alternatively, sow indoors from February-April, 0.5cm (¼") deep in trays of good seed compost. Keep in a propagator at 15-20°C (59-68°F), or place in a clear plastic bag. Germination should take 7-10 days. Pot on into 7.5cm (3") pots and harden off. Plant out after all signs of frost have passed.

Ideal for beds and borders. Suitable for cut flowers.
